America, home of big oil no, battery

Keeps on going and going and going until the bailout money runs out Detroit news speculates that the Obama congress may pass a bill in the first month of its term to grant funding to battery development companies as part of an $800B economic stimulus package.

Many companies in the battery and electric vehicle realm have appeared and asked for a slice of the possible pie; A123, RTEV, Johnson Controls, 3M. Delphi and of course Tesla Motors in addition to Ford, GM and Chrysler.

All of this should be heartening news to us; as BEV fans it's a clear indicator that the third instalment of the electric vehicle is set to stick!
