San Jose gets a new charging station - Free current for all

Can I charge my Laptop from this? Coulomb Technologies made their debut in downtown San Jose, CA on Tuesday. The charging point is connected to an existing street lamp and costs $2k to install; this contrasts sharply with the $B's required to install Hydrogen fuelling stations.

Sam Perry; Tesla #100 owner was on site to charge up.

The company plans to deploy 500 over the next year in the area.

To use the service, for FREE for the next year, get your access card from http://myChargePoint.NET

Way to go!  Free for the next year.  Progressive thinking.

In the video the inside of that box is just a household type outlet so... this isn't 220v?

I don't think so; I'm geting more details for a peice I'm planning to do next week. I don't know whether light poles are 110v or 220v but I'd imagine that for simplicity and to be able to limit complexity they'll be 110v.

US 220v outlets can look like 110v outlets; 220v outlets have the pins going horizontal rather than vertical - I have a load of them in my house as I came from England with a few 220v items like heaters, lamps and sewing machines!
