In an erroneous press release yesterday, Shelby Supercars stopped short of promising an end to world hunger and an answer to the square-root of -1.
The press release announced "the details of its revolutionary All-Electric Scalable Powertrain, the AESP. SSC will incorporate its AESP into the current Ultimate Aero to create the Ultimate Aero EV. Being the "World's Fastest Production Car,""... Worlds fastest... must beat the Veyron then... 253mph.
"The Ultimate Aero EV utilizes a twin motor AESP producing an astounding 1,000 HP and 800 lb-ft of torque enabling it to rocket to 60 mph in a mere 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 208 mph."... not the fastest then, bit quick though.
"Not only does the Ultimate Aero EV have a range of 150-200 miles on a single charge, but SSC's "Charge on the RunTM" onboard charging system allows for 10 minute full battery recharges on a 220 outlet."... So, assuming it's as light and efficient as the Tesla it'll need to suck about 1,680A at 220v to charge that quickly... wiring might get a bit warm... No, more like vaporize... instantly.
It could charge in 10 mins if the voltage was more like 3,700v which you don't get at home very often.
We wish them luck in the venture; it looks stunning but we anticipate the edit.
